L Cpl Carlos Alberto Ribeiro ("Little Robbie")
L Cpl Carlos Alberto Ribeiro (Little Robbie) was born on 25 Nov 1950 in the Portuguese colony of Guinea. He joined the Portuguese Air Force in Jan 1970, where he qualified and served as a Parabat. Shortly after the Portuguese revolution of 1974, Little Robbie, as he was fondly remembered by his colleagues, joined the SADF serving with 1 Recce Comdo. During Op Savannah, Little Robbie was operationally deployed into Angola. Little Robbie went missing presumed killed in action on 19 Aug 1976 during a contact between Luengue and Coutada do Mucusso in Angola. At the time he was seconded to B Group in Rundu of 32 Battalion. Little Robbie was single and was survived by his mother, who lost her two soldier sons in the space of six days.
